Our Materials and Timber
We carefully select materials to ensure that your gingerbread woodwork and our mouldings last for generations. Here you can read more about the raw materials we use – solid pine, birch plywood, and Nordic-grown timber for our own profiled mouldings.
Pine 21 mm
For those who value traditional craftsmanship, we offer gingerbread woodwork in solid, knot-free Nordic pine. The timber is finger-jointed for maximum strength and is available in several dimensions depending on the product.
Solid wood has been used for generations, providing an authentic feel for period-style restoration. It is the natural choice if you wish to recreate the classic look from the time before plywood became available. Pine also offers a warm, lively character that ages beautifully over time.
Birch
We use birch timber from Finnish forests, processed into plywood in 18 and 24 mm thicknesses. All our birch plywood is WBP-bonded (Water and Boil Proof), the same type of adhesive used in marine environments, making the material highly resistant to moisture and deformation.
The advantages of birch plywood are its stability and strength. The material does not risk cracking and allows for very fine, detailed cut-outs in our patterns. This makes birch plywood an excellent choice for decorative features with advanced gingerbread woodwork (fretwork).
Wooden Mouldings in Pine and Spruce
For our mouldings, skirting boards, architraves and handrails we use carefully selected Swedish pine from northern forests. The timber is planed in our own profiles with custom-made blades, giving mouldings and details with unique character and high precision. Unlike many industrial products, our mouldings are not finger-jointed or laminated – here you get solid wood all the way through.
Our crown mouldings, on the other hand, are made of Swedish spruce, which is particularly well suited to these profiles. Spruce provides a lighter feel and blends beautifully in classic interiors.
Both pine and spruce are supplied untreated, ready to be painted or finished in the colour that suits your home. With genuine Nordic-grown timber you get a material that is durable, natural and timeless.
