Wooden handrails and top rails are the finishing and connecting detail of a well-designed wooden railing, whether you are building a traditional railing with decorative detailing or a simpler deck railing. Here you will find top rails that suit both our simpler railing components and our solid pine profiles intended for building conservation.

A top rail provides a visual finish, but also serves as stabilisation and a handrail, especially for stair railings or decks with changes in level. Many of our models are based on historical references from the 19th and early 20th centuries and are well matched with flat balusters, wooden posts, and post caps.

You can combine a traditionally styled top rail with decorative cut-outs or a rounded profile, or choose a simpler, plain model for a more restrained expression. All of our handrails and top rails are made from wood that is suitable for outdoor use and can be painted or treated as required.
