Product Information
Standard thickness: 18 mm.
This product is made of birch plywood, bonded with WBP (Water and Boil Proof) adhesive – the same grade of glue used in marine plywood – giving excellent moisture resistance and long service life.
Birch plywood is highly dimensionally stable and does not crack, even in narrow sections. This makes it possible to achieve the slender, decorative cut-outs typical of traditional gingerbread trim (also called Victorian fretwork) without compromising strength or durability.
For railings / balustrades, you can also choose our profiles in solid pine, if you prefer a lighter appearance with the same respect for tradition.
Painting & Finishing
- Lightly sand end grain with fine paper.
- Prime thoroughly—apply generously and work into edges and end grain. A small roller helps on flat areas; use a brush for profiles.
- Recommended: high-quality paint systems. Prefer an oil-based primer and an exterior joinery/window paint (with film preservatives) or an oil-based topcoat. Avoid dead-matt finishes as they tend to attract biological growth.
- Linseed oil paint is also suitable—apply carefully and use a quality brand.
